Welcome to the work of the Committee on Ministry!
The Committee on Ministry works toward the health of congregations and pastors, supporting both in times of pastoral transition, conflict and growth. We work with churches seeking a new pastor, saying goodbye to a pastor, or seeking an interim or temporary pastor. We help with retirements, validated ministries, and with questions about compensation and job descriptions. Our COM work is divided into four subcommittees:
Obviously, there’s lots of overlap, and so we keep in close touch between the teams.
We seek to be faithful to our Presbyterian principles and Book of Order, and also to use our creativity, empathy and compassion to serve congregations, congregational leaders and pastors. Can we help you or your church? Give us a call!

We help with retirements, validated ministries, and with questions about compensation and job descriptions. Our COM work is divided into four subcommittees:
- Pastoral Call, which works with churches who are seeking their next installed pastor. This team also helps with self-studies.
- Transitional Leadership, which works with churches seeking an interim, or using a temporary pastor. This team also works with CREs – Commissioned Ruling Elders.
- Pastoral Support and Credentials – this team works to support pastors who are retiring, sick, in need of pastoral care, and also works with transfers, validated ministries and other credentialing issues.
- Innovations – this team will update the manual, address any new policy needs, and think about the things we need to do for the future.Where should we be going? What are we missing? They will also host cluster lunches so pastor in any given area can get to know each other better as a way of providing more support.
