Calling all Clerks! We're trying to update our records and keep in touch with all of you. To that end, will you please send your Clerk's email address to firstname.lastname@example.org for inclusion in Clerk-specific communications. Also, our Stated Clerk has started a new Facebook group, accessible at: www.facebook.com/groups/clerkscorner. This group is for Clerks of Session in the Presbytery of Detroit. It's intended to be a place of information, discussion, and assistance, so that Clerks can help their churches to follow the Book of Order and Robert's Rules, and to be up-to-date on issues of church law, tax, and polity. It's also intended to help get the word out on Presbytery-wide events and initiatives. And less formally--for us to pray for and support one another as we seek to do God's work, trusting that God is good, all the time. Make sure your clerks know they are welcome to share in this hopefully fruitful discussion!
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
My name is Marianne Grano; I'm an ordained teaching elder, attorney, wife, and mom, and I've been a member of the Presbytery of Detroit or one of its member congregations most of my life, having worshiped and served in several churches in the Detroit Metro area.
As Stated Clerk of the Presbytery, I am responsible for keeping the records of the Presbytery, as well as keeping up with reporting requirements, reading the records of our various churches, receiving complaints and managing disciplinary or remedial cases, serving as parliamentarian at meetings of Presbytery, and advising our churches on matters of polity, procedure, and risk management.
In the Clerk's Corner, you will find various memos, informational postings, and sample documents to help you and your church and to prepare you for Presbytery meetings. If you have additional questions or ideas for helpful resources to add to this site, please contact me at email@example.com. Thank you for doing the very important work of serving God and God's people, and "may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you." ~Jude 1:2
